I spent a month in Japan studying art and architecture. What I found to be the most riveting out of most of the art was the sculpture. Most of them carved out of wood, stood life size or much larger, with glass eyes. They are extremely dynamic in person. I started to sketch them from photographs or books I purchased while I was there. This one is of the Thunder God, which presides over the weather.
